At least seven people were killed in a tornado that struck Texas on Sunday outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including children. Since 2015, this tornado has become the deadliest in state history.

Numerous damage reports, including over 20 tornado reports, were generated by an outbreak of tornadoes that swept across the American Heartland, from Texas to Missouri.

Along the county borders separating Cooke and Denton, a deadly twister from the strong thunderstorms slammed Interstate 35.

During a press conference, Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington stated that there were numerous injuries and at least seven fatalities close to Valley View. It received an initial EF-2 rating from the NWS.

Dozens of people tried to find refuge from the twister inside an AP Travel Stop and Shell station, where many injuries were recorded.

As the tornado passed through northern Denton County late Saturday night, it caused extensive damage. County officials reported seeing downed power lines, overturned RVs, and damage to residences in the vicinity.

RVs and the Lake Ray Roberts Marina were reported to have significant damage.
