The busiest day of the year for plumbers in the US, “Brown Friday,” is approaching, and according to one research, Los Angeles is probably going to be the most congested metropolis.
The day following Thanksgiving is known as “Brown Friday” among plumbers across the nation because it is always the busiest day of the year, with 50% more calls than the typical Friday.
Clogs in garbage disposals, toilets, and kitchen sinks are the primary culprits, according to Roto-Rooter, a plumbing company.
During Brown Friday in 2023, searches for “emergency plumbing” increased by 65% compared to searches two weeks before Thanksgiving and searches two weeks following the holiday, according to a research of plumbing-related internet data patterns conducted by the website Yelp.
Los Angeles was named the “clogged capital” of the US by Yelp, with a 73% rise in plumbing-related searches on Brown Friday, followed by a 37% increase in Miami.

Next up were Nashville (26% increase in searches), Sacramento (24% increase), and Baltimore (23% increase in searches).
Keeping fats and cooking oils away from the sink, wiping grease off pots and pans with a paper towel before washing them, and avoiding putting potentially clog-causing foods like poultry skins, celery, fruit, and potato peels down the garbage disposal are some tips provided by Roto-Rooter to help prevent plumbing disasters over Thanksgiving weekend.
