Sgt. Steve Gaskins, a public affairs officer for the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), stated that on October 9, just before 7 a.m., a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck driven by a man from Brooksville who was 25 years old was traveling northbound at the intersection of US-41 and Spring Hill Drive while a pedestrian was walking eastbound across US-41.
The pedestrian, later identified as a woman from St. Petersburg who was 40 years old, wandered into the path of the car, which resulted in a pickup truck striking with her. The pedestrian was injured as a result of the collision.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital in a timely manner; nevertheless, she was unable to recuperate from the injuries that she had sustained as a direct result of the occurrence and ultimately passed away while she was a patient there.
