According to the police in Tallahassee, three people who are suspected of being involved in a gunshot in the downtown area have been detained in Thomas County, Georgia.
After discovering a man and a woman with significant injuries in a parking lot, the police issued an all-point notice for a white pickup vehicle that was spotted leaving the Envision Credit Union parking lot.
Both victims were brought to the hospital after the incident. According to a representative for the Tallahassee Police Department, the victim’s injuries pose a significant risk to his life.
Upon receiving the first report of the gunshot, a team from the TPD consisting of more than 17 uniformed officers arrived. They were aided in their investigation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Department and the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to TPD Chief Lawrence Revell, who was there at the incident, three individuals entered the bank parking lot together in the truck before the gunfire started.
He mentioned that as they were leaving the parking area, a white Ford truck with an extended cab and a license plate that read “FSU/Alabama house divided” drove off in the direction of the west. He made a request to the general public for assistance in identifying the car and contacting the police.
According to the Thomas County Police Department, a truck that matched the description was found later in the afternoon in Thomas County, Georgia, and three individuals were taken into custody. There was no more information that could be provided.
“We want to thank the community for remaining vigilant and reporting information to law enforcement,” the TPD stated. “We appreciate your assistance.”
According to an examination of gun violence conducted by the Tallahassee Democrats, there have been a total of 26 separate shootings that have resulted in at least 18 people being hurt and three individuals losing their lives so far in 2018.
Revell was quoted as saying, “We don’t want any acts of violence in our community, and so when anyone commits this type of activity, whether the victims are known to them or not, we as law enforcement are going to find that individual as quickly as possible and bring them to justice as quickly as possible.” “We don’t want any acts of violence in our community,” Revell stated.
The incident took place in broad daylight close to the time that legislators were adjourning their annual legislative session around one mile distant. Revell said that there was no relationship between the two, but other people involved in the process saw linkages.
A former Democrat who served in the House of Representatives in Florida tweeted that “an active shooter is blocks away from the Florida Capitol just as the legislative session ended.” “I fear that this is just a small omen of what their careless permit-less carry bill will do to increase violence in our state in the months and years ahead… Until we win elections and fix it.”
