US Navy Confirms Sailor's Death in Support of Red Sea Operations

A tragic event happened involving a Florida sailor who was reported missing from the USS Mason when it was in the Red Sea for operations.

The 34-year-old sailor, Oriola Michael Aregbesola, who holds the rank of Aviation Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class, was identified, according to the Department of Defense’s release on Saturday.

The USS Mason was involved in operations on March 20 when Aregbesola vanished, according to a release issued on Friday by U.S. Central Command.

He was performing his duties on board the USS Mason, which was part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group and was stationed in the area of operations of the U.S. 5th Fleet.

The Department of Defense stated that a “non-combat” related injury was the reason for Aregbesola’s death. To learn more about the events that led to his untimely death, investigations into the occurrence are presently being conducted.
