Authorities said that a Delaware man attempted to steal a video game console from three different establishments, but was twice repelled by staff members. As a result, the man was taken into custody.
According to investigators, a Best Buy clerk was ringing up an Apple TV and a video game console when Christopher Trexler, 27, attacked her.
As he attempted to leave the store while being pursued by other Best Buy employees, Trexler is accused of pinning the cashier against a shelf and grabbing the merchandise.
Following a brief altercation with staff, during which Trexler claimed to be carrying a weapon, investigators say he fled the business. After asking the cashier about video game consoles at a GameStop an hour later, Trexler is thought to have given her a threatening note.
When he walked behind the sales counter to get a pair of scissors, according to the police, an employee stopped him and managed to throw the scissors away during a fight.
Trexler was driven from the store by the staff member, who, according to the police, only had minor wounds but rejected medical attention.
Shortly after, Trexler is said to have gone to another Best Buy on Fashion Center Boulevard, grabbed a video game console, and fled the establishment.

After being summoned to the Best Buy on suspicion of theft, police subsequently discovered Trexler inside another neighboring store and took him into prison.
Trexler was found to have multiple warrants in September for thefts that occurred days earlier. He was accused of two counts each of criminal mischief, shoplifting, and first-degree attempted robbery.
