This morning, police officers were called to two separate shootings involving adult males. Both victims were taken to a local hospital, but fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening.
In the first incident, at around 11:05 a.m., Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers were alerted to a local hospital visit by an adult male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Initial findings from JSO’s investigation indicate that the victim had an ongoing dispute with someone they knew, although the exact identity of the assailant hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Prior to the shooting, the victim and the suspect engaged in a heated argument in the 3700 block of Burnett Park Road.
This argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect fired multiple shots, injuring the victim, who thankfully did not sustain life-threatening wounds.
In the second incident, at approximately 11:57 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of West 12th Street after receiving reports of an adult male being shot.
Like the first case, this victim was also involved in an ongoing dispute with a known individual. On this particular day, the suspect located the victim, leading to a verbal altercation.
The situation escalated further when the suspect shot and pistol-whipped the victim. The victim sustained a single non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hip.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has stated that both incidents appear to be isolated and involve individuals who are known to each other.
Detectives are actively investigating both cases by searching for witnesses and reviewing video surveillance in the respective areas.
