The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a tragic incident where a woman lost her life after being struck by two unidentified cars while walking along Avenue B.
According to detectives, at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to Avenue B, which is located two blocks south of Edgewood Avenue.
They discovered a woman in her 60s on the road. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived and sadly pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
JSO has stated that they believe the woman was hit by two different cars. They report that she was initially struck by a dark-colored SUV, followed by a white Chevrolet sedan, potentially an Aveo.
Both drivers then fled the scene, heading westbound on Edgewood Avenue. This marks the 160th traffic-related fatality in Duval County this year.
