Authorities revealed on Wednesday that a Miami man is being charged with several offenses for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in July and threatening to kill her.

The Miami Police Department’s arrest record states that the fight started on July 31 when Christopher Gonzalez, 29, accused his girlfriend of cheating.

This accusation sparked a vicious attack that left the victim running for her life.

According to the report, the woman informed officers that she had just arrived home from work and was closing her front door when Gonzalez—with whom she had terminated a brief two-week relationship—forcefully entered the apartment.

Police said the woman fled into the bathroom and shut the door out of fear for her safety. But according to the claim, the man kicked it down, trapping her in the restroom and attacking violently.

Authorities stated the assailant repeatedly punched the woman across her face and body during the attack.

The issue got worse when she slipped into the shower. The victim claimed that the suspect threatened to kill her and requested a knife. and stated to her, “Your life will end tonight. You’re not going to see your kids anymore. Who are you f——?”

When Gonzalez approached the victim in the living room and said, “Why did I hit you? This is domestic violence. I’m going to jail for a long time.” according to the police, the assault temporarily stopped.

The victim obeyed Gonzalez’s command to get inside his car, according to the police, out of fear of additional violence. Then he took them to the Presidente Supermarket, which is situated at Southwest Eighth Street and Southwest 19th Avenue.

When Gonzalez arrived, the victim reportedly asked for ice for her wounds because she was hoping to get away.

However, the victim left as soon as he walked into the supermarket, requesting an Uber, and traveling to her sister’s home in search of safety, according to the police.

The woman allegedly sought medical attention later and received treatment for her wounds, including a laceration that needed to be sewn, according to investigators.

Gonzalez is charged with one count of burglary with assault or battery, kidnapping, assault with domestic violence, and one additional battery offense, according to jail records.

He was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday; his bond was not yet known.
