Ahmoi Cecil Lewis, aged 32 from Tampa, has received a 15-year federal prison sentence from U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle for his involvement in drug trafficking.
Lewis was found guilty of organizing the distribution of dangerous narcotics, which included fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
He was also engaged in armed drug trafficking. Alongside the prison term, Lewis must forfeit $10,000 in cash and five firearms. This judgment follows Lewis’s admission of guilt on June 27, 2023.
According to court records, between October 2020 and February 2022, Lewis led a drug trafficking group in Tampa, Florida.
During this time, he oversaw the distribution of more than 400 grams of fentanyl, over 100 grams of cocaine base, and more than 28 grams of cocaine.
The operation culminated in February 2022 when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Lewis’s Tampa residence.
The raid resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of drugs, including 188 grams of fentanyl, over one kilogram of cocaine, 89 grams of methamphetamine, over eight kilograms of marijuana, three pistols, two assault rifles, a high-capacity drum-style magazine, and $10,000 in cash.
This successful operation was a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Charlie D. Connally played a crucial role in prosecuting the case.
