A young driver lost his life early on Friday in a car crash on Interstate 95 in north Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 1:30 a.m., the authorities went to the scene to look into the accident near Ormond Beach, around mile marker 273.
At the site, they found that a man driving a Kia Forte northward went off the road and collided with a tractor-trailer parked on the road’s side.
Sadly, the accident resulted in the driver of the Kia losing their life. The Florida Highway Patrol would not disclose the young man’s identity but did say that he was 18 years old and from Daytona Beach.
The driver of the semi-truck, who was in the vehicle at the time of the collision, did not sustain any injuries and has remained at the scene as the Florida Highway Patrol continues their investigation into the event.
For several hours on Friday morning, investigators closed an entrance ramp onto northbound I-95 and one lane of the interstate, but they have since reopened.
