2 Police Officers Injured, Suspect Fatally Shot in Waterloo Shooting Incident

According to Waterloo Police, a suspect who was slain at the site shot and injured two cops. At 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the 200 block of Manson in response to a report of a man carrying a pistol.

While they don’t go into great detail, the authorities do claim that the officer-involved shooting took place in the 1200 block of E 4th Street. That’s where the slain suspect ended up. The suspect’s death from police gunfire has not been confirmed by investigators.

Authorities said the injured officers are expected to make a full recovery after being transported to a nearby hospital. The investigation is currently being assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier met with the mother of the suspect who passed away at the scene. “My son died after being shot.”

She informed the Courier. “I just wanted to stay down here long enough until they picked my baby’s body off the ground, and I did that.”

She told the Courier that her son was sprinting through the park when the cops stunted him, and that after he hit the ground, he started shooting at the officers.

According to The Courier, Mayor Quentin Hart also showed up to talk with the victim’s mother and the police.
