Shocking Couple's Disturbing Attempt to Set Their Own Child on Fire Revealed!

In 2022, a couple from West Palm Beach, Florida, tried to set their 1-year-old child on fire at a truck stop in western New York. Each person was given a nine-year prison term.

Jamie Avery, who is 28 years old, and his wife, Lisbeth Collado, who is 26, were both sentenced to state jail by Seneca County Judge Barry Porsch on Wednesday.

They had pleaded guilty in March. When they get out of jail, they will be on parole for five years. Porsch also said that Avery and Collado couldn’t see their kids until the year 2040.

Both Avery and Collado filed a Notice of Intent to Appeal.

District Attorney Mark Sinkiewicz told The Finger Lakes Times, “This sentence doesn’t explain how or why these defendants could do such strange and dangerous things to their children, but it will protect the children from these two until they are old enough to speak for themselves.”

Sinkiewicz told WHEC-TV, an NBC station, that the proof, which included a video, backed up the charge of attempted assault in the first degree.

On May 3, 2022, Avery, Collado, and their two young children, ages 1 and 4, were driving from the Syracuse area when they stopped at Love’s truck stop in Tyre, in the Finger Lakes region.

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office officers were called to a building after someone said there were several fires inside. They found two people who they think started or tried to start the fires.

The 1-year-old child was found covered in a liquid that could catch fire. An ambulance took the kid to Geneva General Hospital.

A strange device was found in the men’s bathroom by deputies. People were told to leave the building, and the bomb squad was called.

Later, a 4-year-old who had been hurt and left in the cab of a tractor-trailer was found at the scene.

The child was taken to a hospital because it looked like they had hurt their heads.

They were later let out of the hospital, and at that time, the Seneca County Division of Human Services took care of them.
