COLUMBUS, Ga.— According to an email that was distributed to GOP delegates by the party, a visit by former President Donald Trump to Columbus is scheduled to take place in a little more than three weeks.
The 2023 Georgia Republican State Convention will take place on June 9-10, and Donald Trump, along with a large number of other prominent Republican political figures, will be brought to the Fountain City for the event.
The Georgia Republican Party will use the convention to determine its priorities and rules, as well as propose individuals for leadership positions and vote on leadership positions.
The Columbus Georgia Convention & Trade Center was selected as the location for the annual convention that will take place in May of 2022.
In November of 2022, Donald Trump made the official announcement from his Mar-A-Lago home that he would be running for president of the United States of America in 2024, making him the first major Republican to do so.
The first congressional representative from Georgia to express support for the former president was Marjorie Taylor Greene of the United States House of Representatives. The day that Greene launched his candidacy was also the day that he received Greene’s endorsement.
Trump has received the most notable endorsements, totaling 72, including those of ten senators from the United States and two governors.
As the date of the convention approaches closer, WRBL anticipates learning more specifics regarding the coming of the former president to Fountain City.
Brian Kemp, the governor of Georgia and a Republican, has stated in the past that he will not be attending the state Republican convention in Columbus this year.
