Tragic Incident Boater's Body Found on Lake Tarpon in Palm Harbor

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — A boater’s body was found after an extensive search conducted on Lake Tarpon in Palm Harbor.

On Monday at 10:22 a.m., the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to a report of a missing boater.

The missing individual was identified as 50-year-old Mark Mayer, who had left his home on a 19-foot Tracker vessel at around 7 p.m. the previous day and had not returned. Mayer’s family reported his disappearance to the authorities.

Around 11:26 a.m. on Monday, the PCSO Flight Unit located Mayer and his boat. It was apparent that the vessel had collided with the dock situated at 3723 Mullenhurst Drive.

Following their investigation, deputies concluded that Mayer had collided with the dock and was ejected from the boat. Mayer’s body was subsequently recovered from the water near the boat.

Deputies have stated that alcohol seems to have played a role in the accident, but the investigation is still ongoing.
