Shocking Student Arrested With Handgun at Tallahassee High School!

Friday, police in Tallahassee held a 16-year-old student after they found out he brought a gun to Lincoln High School.

Friday at 4:14 p.m., after school was over, police were called to the school’s track fields after getting a tip that a student had a gun on campus. A press release from the Tallahassee Police Department said that the student was in possession of a gun on campus.

TPD said that police found out that the student “returned to school with a handgun after getting into a fight with another student over a long-running feud between the two.”

He was taken into custody and charged with having a gun on school grounds and having a gun as a minor.

School resource officers from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office are hired by the district until high schools let out. Chris Petley, a spokesperson for the school district, said that TPD was the first to arrive at this scene on Friday.

The Leon County Schools’ code of conduct says that having a weapon on campus is grounds for expulsion.

The district’s safety and security office has recently searched middle and high schools without warning to discourage students from bringing weapons to school. The district sends hand-held metal detectors and a dog named Stassi who is trained to find guns and bullets and let the authorities know.

Since the start of the school year, at least seven weapons have been found on school grounds.
