Book and Fried were part of a group that was against a law in Florida that banned abortions after six weeks. TPD says that protesters were told several times throughout the day that they would be arrested if they didn’t leave the area by sundown.
TPD says that most of the crowd left the property after dark, but 11 people stayed there even after being asked to leave many times. People were arrested for trespassing on those grounds.
Monday, just before midnight, Book and Fried were among the protesters who were let go.
Monday, the Florida Senate passed Senate Bill 300. The bill reduces the state’s ban on abortion from 15 weeks to six weeks.
Before Governor Ron DeSantis can sign the bill into law, it still needs to be approved by the Florida House of Representatives.
