In January, a woman’s body was found on I-4. The police then arrested a guy.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, multiple people called Orlando police to say that vehicles had hit a dead person on I-4 westbound near the Orange Blossom Trail exit.
A woman, later named as Teqilla L. Shepherd, age 39, was found on the road, and a crashed, empty car was found at the exit from I-4 onto OBT Southbound.
Albert Ayala, Shepherd’s 33-year-old boyfriend, was driving the car, according to the police. People say that she and Ayala got into a fight when things started to get worse. Detectives say Shepherd got out of the car “on his own” while they were driving on I-4. Officials say that it was seen by a person in a car behind Ayala and Shepherd’s car.
Detectives say that Ayala tried to get off the highway to turn around and go back to Shepherd, but he lost control of the car on the off-ramp and crashed. Ayala is then said to have left the scene.
He was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night for a different crime and taken to police headquarters, where he was questioned by OPD officers about the crash. He said that he had picked Shepherd up from work on the day they had a fight.
He is accused of leaving the scene of an accident where someone died, leaving the scene of an accident where property was damaged, and driving with a suspended license.
