Tallahassee Police Investigate Two Sunday Shootings: Injuries Reported

Tallahassee police were called to two shootings on Sunday morning, one of which occurred at Leon Arms where a woman had been wounded in an incident involving gunfire across the apartment complex on Friday.

The two Sunday shootings resulted in injuries to two individuals, as confirmed by a watch commander from the Tallahassee Police Department. No arrests have been made in connection to these incidents.

At 4:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to Leon Arms, located at 2502 Holton St., following a report of gunshots.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg,” reported the watch commander. “Numerous shell casings were found, but no additional victims or suspects were located.”

The injured victim was transported to a local hospital’s emergency room for treatment.

Subsequently, at 8:12 a.m., officers responded to another shooting at Eagle Peak apartments on West Pensacola Street. They found one person with a gunshot wound to the leg, who was then taken to the hospital. The police had no description of the suspect involved.

The incidents of gun violence in 2023 add to a mass shooting that occurred early Saturday morning outside Acasa Ocala apartments on Ocala Road, resulting in injuries to four individuals. Notably, this incident marked the second time in less than 48 hours that someone had been shot and injured at Leon Arms.

Just the previous Friday afternoon, an unspecified number of suspects fired multiple rounds in an incident at the Holton Street complex. One woman, described by residents as an innocent bystander, was severely injured.

In the current year, Tallahassee and Leon County have witnessed a total of 62 shootings, leading to 16 fatalities and 50 additional people sustaining injuries.
