Tallahassee Man in Police Custody for Involvement in Accidental Shooting

A guy has been taken into custody in connection with an accidental gunshot that occurred on Saturday by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the LCSO, Javen Parker, 18, was arrested following the shooting of a 13-year-old girl who was rushed to the hospital with injuries from a gunshot wound that were not considered to be life-threatening.

Following an inquiry, the investigators learned that the victim had been standing next to Parker at the time that he reportedly fired the revolver accidentally by accident.

The next day, Parker was taken into custody and charged with carrying a hidden weapon, negligently discharging a handgun, and improperly displaying a firearm in public.

There has not yet been a conclusion reached in the inquiry into the shooting.

Together with Big Bend Crime Stoppers, the Lena County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has announced a new program that will pay a monetary reward for information that leads to the arrest of a person who is in unlawful possession of a handgun.
