BOCA RATON, Fla. — South Florida firefighters spent a day practicing for what to do if a train carrying dangerous goods crashed.
Delray Beach Fire Rescue showed firefighters from West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, and Broward County pictures of the drill. The training was held at Boca Raton Fire Rescue.
In the story, there was a long train stopped on the track with a car stuck under it and a person stuck inside. At the same time, something we don’t know what it was fell onto the tracks.
Crews had to put on safety gear to get the person out of the car and figure out and fix the leaks on the train.
The training comes after a train went off the tracks about two months ago in East Palestine, Ohio. The crash put more weight on the government to decide how to move LNG, which stands for “Liquified Natural Gas.
“Some safety supporters told the CBS12 News I-Team that putting LNG tanker cars together would make “bomb trains,” and they want the Biden administration to stop bulk LNG transport by train. Only in Florida and Alaska is it possible to transport LNG on a train in tanker cars.
