Breaking: 17-year-old Boy Found Guilty of Attempting to Kill Police Officer!

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Travis Clayton Rains, who is 20 years old, was found guilty of trying to kill a police officer and given a life term.

In 2020, Rains broke into a house in the San Carlos Park area when he was only 17 years old.

County of LeeRains tried to get away from officers by driving away in a van as they arrived at the house. At the corner of Three Oaks Parkway and Alico Road, there was a shootout. Rains was a passenger in the car, and he started shooting at the police.

Rains was also given 10 years in prison for burglary and 15 years on each count of firing a gun from a car and shooting at, into, or inside an occupied car. He got credit for the time he had already spent in jail for resisting an officer without violence and hitting a police dog. All lines should be read at the same time.

On LCSO’s Facebook page, you can find a news conference about the shooting of an officer.

Prosecutors went right to the adult court with his case. After Rains’ case was tried in Lee County in February, he was found guilty.
