The plaintiffs contend that in order to safeguard the data of its patients, Henry Ford Health System ought to have put in place suitable cybersecurity safeguards.

Henry Ford agreed to pay $700,000 to resolve the data breach class action case, despite their refusal to acknowledge blame.
Class members are entitled to a prorated cash payment or up to $2,500 in reimbursement for substantiated costs associated with the security breach under the settlement; the amount of the payout will be determined by the total number of claims submitted and other considerations.
Although it is not necessary for prorated payment, proof of damage is asked for refunds.

The Eligibility Criteria and the Deadline for Class Action Exclusion and Objection
All class members will also be eligible for a $1 million identity theft insurance policy and a free credit monitoring program for a year from two firms. This benefit is even available to people who have already benefited from Henry Ford’s credit monitoring program.
October 29, 2024 is the date of the hearing for the settlement’s final approval; the deadline for objecting or excluding was September 28, 2024. By October 28, 2024, class members must submit a valid claim form in order to receive the benefits of the settlement.
