ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Michael Beverly, who is only 14 years old, was taken into custody by law enforcement on Monday and charged with attempted murder in the second degree for a shooting that took place on May 8 at Wildwood Park, which is located at 1000 28th St. S.
According to the police, a boy who was 16 at the time of the shooting survived his injuries.
Along with four other juveniles ranging in age from 13 to 15, Beverly was hauled into jail early on Monday after participating in a string of at least seven auto burglaries.
A stolen Kia Seltos was located in the vicinity of 59th Street and 30th Avenue North by law enforcement personnel shortly after midnight.
The officers made an attempt to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop for them. It was eventually found in the 4600 block of 18th Avenue South, where five teenage guys had run into an adjacent house in an attempt to hide from the police. They were placed under arrest, and a weapon was found on one of them.
The allegations against them include burglary of a residence, auto burglary, residential burglary, and possession of tools for burglary. Additionally, one of the juveniles was in possession of stolen credit cards.
Officers were able to determine that one of the juveniles was Michael Beverly, who was wanted for attempted murder in connection with the incident that took place on May 8th.
