Breakup Horror Iowa Man Shoots Ex-Girlfriend’s Parents as They Help Her Move Out

A guy from Iowa is incarcerated for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend’s parents while they were relocating her from the house they shared after a split, killing her mother and seriously wounding her father.

It took place on Friday at approximately 5:20 p.m. in Des Moines, in the 200 block of NW 51st Place. For first-degree murder, attempted murder, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, police detained 24-year-old Hamza Smajlovic.

It is alleged that he killed Ruth Sue Ann Robison, 45, and wounded her husband, 52. Her parents were assisting her leave Smajlovic’s home after the 24-year-old and Smajlovic broke up.

Smajlovic allegedly started shooting at some time. When Polk County Sheriff’s deputies got there, they discovered the two people inside with gunshot wounds. Doctors declared Robison dead and her husband critically ill after paramedics hurried the couple to the hospital, according to police.

According to a police complaint, he used a 9 mm pistol to shoot Robison once in the head. Additionally, he is accused of shooting the father of his lover in the head. Authorities claim that while the victims were inside the house, he fired the weapon.

After the shooting, he reportedly stayed at the location. According to authorities, his ex-girlfriend was present in the house at the time but was unharmed.

“The defendant did knowingly, intentionally and willingly fire a live 9 mm round into an occupied residence at the victim, while in the commission of a murder and attempted murder of two other victims in the home at the time of the shooting,” according to the complaint.

Smajlovic was detained by police and sent to the Polk County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. On November 12, there will be a preliminary hearing. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
