Last week in West Palm Beach, a husband was taken into custody following the discovery of his deceased wife inside a condominium.
Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the Presidential Golfview Condominiums, situated near North Congress Avenue and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard.
After several days of unsuccessful attempts to reach her, the victim’s daughter visited her mother’s apartment for a wellness check.
When she couldn’t gain access, she alerted the police and brought in a locksmith, who was able to open the rear door. Inside the studio apartment’s kitchen, authorities found the lifeless body of the 49-year-old woman.
According to the Palm Beach County medical examiner, the victim had been both strangled and stabbed.
Investigators couldn’t locate the woman’s husband, Keith Antonio Davis, 61, of West Palm Beach, and he couldn’t be reached by phone. After a thorough inquiry, it was determined that Davis was the prime suspect.
Detectives subsequently discovered that he was already incarcerated in the Broward County jail on unrelated charges.
On Friday around 8 p.m., detectives met with Davis at the jail following his release. He agreed to an interview and confessed to the killing, leading to his arrest early Saturday morning.
Davis is currently held in Broward County, awaiting transfer to Palm Beach County to face charges of first-degree murder. To protect the privacy of the victim, police are not releasing her identity, in accordance with Marsy’s Law.
