GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff’s Office officials caught a man suspected of armed robbery after he crashed his truck on purpose into another car and then robbed the people inside at gunpoint.
Deputies say that Steven Shoemaker, 32, hit the other car on purpose on Northeast 21st Street at 1 a.m. on Monday. He hit the car more than once, which pushed it into a ditch.
He then walked up and pointed a gun inside, according to the police report. The people inside gave him about $300 in cash.
After a while, deputies were able to find Shoemaker and his car. He said he had nothing to do with the accident, but the damage to the front of his truck was clear.
Shoemaker was taken to the Alachua County Jail on charges of aggravated attack with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, property damage, and driving with a suspended license.
