SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A grand jury charged two men with first-degree murder on Monday for the January shooting death of a well-known club organizer near a Casselberry condo complex.
Dereck Cummings, 31, was shot and killed on January 28. Daquan Woods, age 21, and Bobby Houston Bridges III, age 28, were both charged with attempted robbery with a gun that caused death.
Police said that a months-long investigation that included camera footage, witness statements, and cell phone data showed that Woods and Bridges had selected the victim in the Carrington Park Condominiums parking lot.
Officers say that after a short fight, several shots were fired and Cummings was hit and killed.
Police say that the two were caught a few months after the killing.
Cummings was a producer in Orlando who went by the name Antwuan Miles on stage.
“Not only does the family hurt, but so does Orlando. “Whoever did this did a lot of damage to the city of Orlando,” Cummings’ mother, Tuwanan Ware, told News 6 in an earlier interview.
Woods and Bridges are both being held without bond in the Seminole County jail.
So far, no court date has been set.
