Agriculture plays a crucial role in Florida’s economy, with the state generating approximately $7.7 billion in agricultural cash receipts in 2021, as reported by the University of Arkansas’ Division of Agriculture.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services notes that the state is home to around 47,500 farms spanning approximately 9.7 million acres.
Unfortunately, some Florida farms faced challenges in 2023. Monterey Mushrooms closed its operations, and Dakin Dairy Farm, after more than two decades in business, is reportedly up for sale.
Another noteworthy instance is JackRBT Farms, a 44-acre for-profit organization in Atlantis, Florida, incorporated in 1997. Recently, it was sold to Pulte Homes for $30.32 million.

Pulte Homes intends to develop the property into a luxury community named Greyhawk Landing, featuring 131 single-family homes starting in the $700,000s. Anticipated amenities include a pool, fitness center, and clubhouse.
Considering the average home value in Florida is around $392,000, the $700,000 price tag may seem high. However, in Palm Beach County, where the farm is located, the median home price is $569,000, according to Realtor.com.
Despite housing receiving the lowest grade, Palm Beach County maintains an overall A rating by Niche, with residents praising its location, climate, and amenities and giving it a 4.5 out of 5-star rating.

“I think Palm Beach County is a beautiful place. Most of the residents are kind and helpful. (It) is close enough to the beach where a day trip is easy but far enough away to not be too bothered by the storms. The school district is great, and the neighborhoods are wonderful. My kids and I have only been here a year, and we love it. The climate is also very inviting, almost always warm and most of the time you can find a cool breeze.”
