Florida Motorcyclist Faces Eight Hits After Falling on Highway

A motorcyclist tragically lost his life on Sunday after he fell from his bike and was struck by eight different vehicles on a Florida highway.

The incident occurred on U.S. 27 near Lake Louisa State Park, approximately 33 miles south of Orlando, around 6:20 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol as reported by The Messenger.

The 26-year-old man fell off his motorcycle, landing in the center of the southbound lane. Subsequently, eight vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and pickups, struck him in rapid succession.

Authorities mentioned that drivers did not have enough time to spot him and take evasive action.

As of Wednesday morning, the victim’s identity had not been disclosed, but officials stated that he resided in Kissimmee, approximately 30 miles away from the crash site.

All drivers involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Fortunately, none of them sustained injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Statistics from October reveal that motorcycle accidents are 28 times more likely to result in fatalities compared to other types of vehicles, with Florida recording the highest number in 2020.
