PLANT CITY, Fla. — An altercation that took place at the post office in Plant City on Sunday resulted in the death of a man.
The Plant City Police Department got a complaint about a suicidal individual in the parking lot of the United States Post Office at 2501 Walden Woods Drive at around 5:16 p.m., according to the police. The location of the post office is 2501 Walden Woods Drive.
When the police arrived, they saw a male subject who was equipped with a pistol. They tried to de-escalate the situation when the subject forcefully aimed his firearm at the officers, but the subject continued to point his firearm at the officers.
According to the police, the cops resorted to lethal force, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the site of the incident.
In accordance with the procedure of the Plant City Police Department, the officers who were involved in this incident have been put on paid administrative leave awaiting the outcome of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
