Hit-and-run Driver Strikes Pedestrian Twice in Deadly Palm Beach County Incident

Florida Highway Patrol said on Tuesday morning that they were hunting for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian near South Bay in northern Palm Beach County.

Lt. Indiana Miranda, a spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol, said in a press release that at 8:23 a.m., an unidentified vehicle was traveling south on State Road 25, nearing mile-marker 68 in the far right lane.

Someone was out there on the outside paved shoulder, strolling or standing. According to Miranda, the vehicle crossed over into the shoulder area from the outside lane of travel for unknown reasons.

The individual was flung southward onto the outside paved shoulder after being struck by the vehicle’s front end. After falling to the outside shoulder, the victim was hit again by the car.

According to Miranda, the car returned to the outside lane and headed south on the highway.

On-site medical personnel pronounced the man deceased.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office had shut down both southbound and northbound lanes while they investigated.

The FHP claims it knows nothing about the vehicle’s manufacturer or model.
