During a traffic check, a guy tried to elude police, but a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) K-9 assisted in his apprehension, according to authorities.
According to FHP, a black Infiniti Sedan with unlawfully tinted windows began exceeding the speed limit on Wednesday as a state trooper was on patrol near the junction of Michigan Avenue and Memphis Avenue in Pensacola.
The driver began “acting suspiciously, trying to conceal himself by lowering his posture and attempting to hide behind the B-pillar in his vehicle.” Authorities later identified the driver as 25-year-old Najee Rich.
Rich turned around and parked in a Fairview Avenue driveway. According to reports, the trooper sought to stop traffic after following behind and turning on his emergency lights.
But according to FHP, Rich began to back out of the driveway in an attempt to escape.
In an effort to stop Rich, the policeman initiated a “low-speed” maneuver; however, officials reported that Rich managed to escape the maneuver and began driving west on Michigan Avenue at over 100 mph in a 40 mph zone while it was raining.
Troopers said that Rich eventually began driving in the wrong direction, lost control of his vehicle, crossed the eastbound lanes, and collided with a pole.

After that, he allegedly got out of the car and attempted to flee, but the trooper let go of the K-9 Colt, who “maintained the apprehension” until Rich was taken into custody by the police.
Rich was wanted for robbery, home invasion with a firearm, attempted murder, and filing a fake police report. Before being brought to Escambia County Jail, he was treated at Baptist Hospital.
