A Lakeland man was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after authorities reported discovering his wife dead from over 20 stab wounds.
On Tuesday, November 5, at around 6:30 a.m., the Lakeland Police Department received a 911 call about a stabbing.
Deljie Tyson, 50, called 911, claiming to have just stabbed his wife, Sandra Green, 46, at their residence on North Fork Drive, according to officials.
Green had been “acting erratic,” according to Tyson, who allegedly said he had a dispute with her during the call.
When the officers got to the house, Tyson was still there. Police claimed to have discovered Green laying on the kitchen floor when they entered. According to officials, it was instantly clear that she had sustained multiple stab wounds.
Officers reported seeing a firearm and two knives close by. But according to them, it didn’t seem like the pistol had been fired during the event.
Soon after, the Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue arrived to save Green’s life, and she and her husband were transported to a nearby hospital.
Tyson had a minor cut on his finger and a stab wound to his arm, according to the police.

Green was declared dead by medical personnel not long after the couple got to the hospital. According to police, Green was stabbed more than 20 times while receiving treatment.
After receiving treatment for his minor wounds, Tyson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Detectives claimed that after being arrested, Tyson sought legal advice and would not discuss the incident’s specifics with them.
The probe was still under progress as of Wednesday, Nov. 6. Detective Troy Smith can be reached by email at [email protected] if you have any information.
