LGBTQ+ Pride Mural in Fort Lauderdale Attacked by Unidentified Driver.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —Investigators put out security video to try to find the driver who messed up a mural in Fort Lauderdale that showed pride for LGBTQ+ people.

On Feb. 28, a black Ford F-250 pickup truck is seen on the video doing a burnout in front of a bright street mural near State Road A1A and Seabreeze Boulevard.

At least two people seem to have something to do with it. In the video, one person opens the truck’s front passenger door, talks to the driver, and then walks to the side of the road.

The driver then puts the truck into gear and spins the tires on the painting. After the smoke from the burnout clears, the second person gets into the pickup truck and the driver drives away.

Since then, the damage has been fixed.

Anyone who knows anything about the damage should call Detective Jones at 954-828-5771 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. (8477).

Someone in a pickup truck has messed up an LGBTQ+ artwork before. In mid-June 2021, a cellphone video showed a pickup truck doing a burnout on the newly opened LGBTQ+ Pride Intersection Streetscape at NE 2nd and NE 1st Street in Delray Beach. This happened on the same day as a birthday gathering for President Donald Trump.

Alexander Jerich was arrested by the police. In the end, he admitted to criminal damage.

Jerich, who is now 21 years old, had to do 10 hours of community service, get an exam and treatment for his mental health, and write a 25-page report about the Orlando nightclub massacre at Pulse.
