Ja’Darius Brown was arrested by the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) on September 12th in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on September 11th on Joe Louis Street.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Springfield Apartment Complex, resulting in the tragic death of an adult female.
The TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit led the investigation and determined that the victim, along with Brown and three others, were inside a car smoking cannabis when Brown accidentally discharged a firearm, causing harm to the victim.
Afterward, he disposed of the weapon at a different location and then transported the injured victim to the hospital.
Detectives identified Brown as the primary suspect through physical evidence and statements from witnesses, which provided sufficient reason to arrest him.
Brown was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center. He is now facing charges that include manslaughter with a firearm and tampering with physical evidence.
