A Virginia guy received a lottery ticket as a gift from his father, and with it, he won a lifelong prize of $1,000 every week.
After getting married in April, Aaron Andrews told Virginia Lottery officials that he and his spouse have been residing in his father’s basement.
According to Andrews, his father purchased a ticket for him to participate in the Cash4Life drawing on August 3. When he matched the first five numbers, he was awarded a prize of $1,000 every week for the rest of his life.
“I have a great father who has done nothing but look out for me,” Andrews stated to the lottery officials.
Andrews opted to take his award in the form of a $1 million flat sum payout. He said he will be able to purchase a home with the money.
Purchasing the ticket at PJ’s Neighborhood Variety Store on Fuller Heights Road in Triangle, his father jokingly said that this was always his intention.
“This was the best way to get him out of my basement,” he stated.
