Miami Resident in Custody After Assaulting Dog and Grandmother in Liberty City

On Monday, Miami police took a man from Miami into custody in connection with an incident that occurred in July.

They allege that he assaulted both his grandmother and her dog.

The incident transpired a little before 9:30 a.m. on July 8 at the victim’s residence on Northwest 45th Street in the Liberty City neighborhood.

According to the arrest report, Larry McKinnon started banging on his grandmother’s door.

When she confronted him about it, her dog emerged, prompting McKinnon to strike the animal on the head.

When McKinnon’s grandmother intervened and pushed him away to prevent further harm to the dog, the 23-year-old reportedly punched her in the right eye, resulting in a minor cut. Subsequently, McKinnon fled the scene.

McKinnon was arrested on charges of felony battery against a person aged 65 or older and misdemeanor animal cruelty.

A judge found enough evidence to pursue charges against McKinnon, and he was held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a $6,000 bond as of the following Tuesday, as per Miami-Dade jail records
