ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Authorities said Tuesday that a Florida man has been charged with murder and other crimes for killing and cutting up an Uber Eats driver who had brought food to the assailant’s house.
At a press conference, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said that Oscar Solis Jr., who is 30 years old, is accused of killing the driver during a delivery Wednesday at a home in Holiday, Florida.
A police statement says that the body parts were found at the house in trash bags and a cooler. The cooler also had a ticket with Solis’ name on it.
Nocco told reporters, “This was a horrible crime done out of anger.” “This was evil. He did something evil.”
Jail records show that Solis is being charged with murder during a robbery, failing to register as a convicted criminal, and breaking parole. Nocco said that Solis was let out of jail in Indiana in January after spending four years for attack and theft. About three months ago, he went to Florida.
The case comes after several random shootings of people who walked up to strangers’ houses. For example, a couple in Davie, Florida, was shot at when their car turned into the wrong driveway while making an Instacart delivery. They did not get hurt.
In Solis’s jail papers, there was no information about a lawyer who could speak for him. Solis’s face is covered with tattoos, as seen in his photo, and Nocco said he was a member of the dangerous MS-13 gang in Indiana.
The statement says that Solis was 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 315 pounds. He worked as security at a strip club in Florida.
Blood was found in different places around the house, and a key fob belonging to the victim was found on Solis’ desk, on top of his wallet. These are both pieces of evidence in the case.
The document also says that the victim’s car was found abandoned a short distance away. Inside was a trash bag with bloody rags and towels, a Door Dash bag like the one the victim carried, and a time card from Solis’ job.
Investigators also got surveillance footage from the house that showed the victim delivering the food and two Hispanic men bringing heavy trash bags outside later. Solis used the other man as a driver, but he has not been charged.
The victim’s wife reported him missing when he didn’t come home from his Uber Eats orders. Uber told the police that the last place the victim was seen was at the Solis home.
