Multiple Agencies Collaborate to Save 87-Year-Old Man in St. Lucie County

An 87-year-old man was saved by multiple agencies in St. Lucie County after he became stuck and was at risk of falling into a canal. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Friday when the man contacted his family for help.

Coordinating their efforts, law enforcement agencies in St. Lucie County collaborated to locate and rescue the man. The sheriff’s office was able to track his location to Veranda Falls on Becker Road.

PSLPD K9 Officer Krecic and Officer Perkins conducted a thorough search of the area on foot, while the SLCSO air unit surveyed from above.

Working together, the officers and air unit spotted the man struggling to climb up the canal bank as his vehicle teetered on the edge, threatening to roll over him.

K9 Officer Krecic and Officer Perkins descended the canal bank to rescue the man, who was trapped beneath his vehicle in shallow water. Fortunately, the man did not sustain any injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, as stated by PSLPD.
