An evening stabbing in broad daylight on an East Village sidewalk resulted in one fatality and two injuries, according to the police.
In the vicinity of Avenue A and East 14th Street in Manhattan at approximately 5:45 p.m., a 38-year-old male was tragically stabbed in the neck, a 52-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg, and a 31-year-old guy was knifed in the lower back, according to witnesses.
According to officials, the 38-year-old victim passed away from his wounds after the three victims were first taken to Bellevue Hospital.
The status of the younger man is stable, while the woman’s health is critical. The male, 30, was arrested on the spot, according to the police. He is currently not the subject of any charges.
The NYPD said that they also found a “cutting instrument.”
After the triple stabbing, there were pools of blood soaking into the sidewalk along with debris, clothing, and other items scattered everywhere.

Council Member Keith Powers demanded a dedicated police presence in the area after the deadly attack to stop the regular violence and other crimes, which he labeled “out of control” and “madness.”

“The situation on 14th St is out of control… It’s unacceptable to continue to have the conditions on the street remain status quo,” he stated.
“We need every elected official and agency working to solve these problems: A dedicated NYPD presence to curb illicit activities, continued enforcement of illegal vendors, on-going [sic] attention to trash and sanitation cleanup, and more,” Powers continued.
Authorities did not immediately provide more details regarding the motive behind the stabbing. It’s also unknown if the victims were related in any way.
