A couple from Ohio is ecstatic after winning two different lottery jackpots on the same day, a stroke of extraordinary luck. For the past nine months, lottery enthusiasts Tanya and Randy Metzger have been playing their birthday numbers in the Pick 5 drawings.
When the Metzgers first looked at one of their tickets during last Tuesday’s Pick 5 drawing, they saw that they had won $417. After months of assiduously playing the lottery, the pair was thrilled about this moment alone.
Unaware of the even bigger surprise that awaited them, they decided not to check the remaining tickets right away.
The Metzgers believe that personal milestones have sentimental meaning, which is why they play their birthday numbers. In a surprising and remarkable way, this practice of regularly using significant numbers in lottery games has suddenly paid off.
The initial win set the tone for a day of surprises and joy, even if the story does not yet tell the fate of the other tickets. The couple’s devotion to their selected numbers and confidence in their lottery method serve as a reminder of the rewards of perseverance and hope.
The Metzgers’ tale serves as a reminder of the thrill and uncertainty that the lottery can offer as they rejoice in their good fortune. The couple’s experience is proof of the excitement of playing the game and the potential that exists, regardless of whether their extra tickets contain any more wins.
“I never look at the other ones,” Randy stated to lottery officials. “When I go and get them for the next day, I scan them.”
Despite the fact that Randy went to the Speedway on Harding Way in Galion the following day to pay in his tickets, the amount of money he won was significantly larger than he had anticipated.
“It said, ‘$25,208.50′ and I go, what?’ and then I look and thought, ‘those are the same numbers,'” Randy stated to lottery officials.
On the other hand, the winning numbers were arranged in a different order on the ticket that was automatically selected and played as a backup.
According to the Ohio Lottery, the pair will get a little more than $18,000 after applying for state and federal taxes on their winnings.
During their conversation with lottery authorities, Randy shared that they intend to pay off their automobile and “make Christmas merrier for several people who are in need.”
Every day at 12:29 and 7:29 p.m., the same five numbers are picked for the Pick 5 lottery.
