A high school in Orange County closed Wednesday due to a “unspecified threat,” and school officials are now hunting for information about it.
According to a release addressed to Brea Olinda High School parents, administrators were initially made aware of the threat on Tuesday evening.
The threat, which circulated on social media, included an image of two firearms and the caption “look out for tomorrow, @bohs,” according to school officials.
The school and district promptly reported the threat to local authorities, who have subsequently opened an inquiry.
“Ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff and the community is the school’s highest priority,” BOHS said in their release, which was issued the same day as officials learned of the threat. “As a precaution, and since the threat could not be [immediately] confirmed as non-credible or credible, officials have made the decision to cancel all classes and school activities at BOHS scheduled for Nov. 13.”
The potential threat did not include any other schools in the Brea Olinda Unified School District, according to officials.
Following the threat, parents, students, and staff are advised that there will be an increased law enforcement presence at all BOUSD campuses, including Brea Olinda High.
Anyone with information on the event is encouraged to call the Brea Police Department at 714-990-7911.
