A 30-year-old guy from Fort Pierce who died in a crash Thursday morning at the intersection of Southern and Forest Hill boulevards is being remembered by his family and friends.
Brittany Buscen, who used to work with him and was his friend, said that Kyle Dougherty, the man who was killed, was a wonderful husband and father.
Buscen said, “He was just so happy to start his life and future with his wife and baby girl. They were his pride and joy, and that’s all he wanted.” “That’s all he ever talked about.”
Buscen says that Dougherty was on his way to work the morning of the crash.
“This is such a crazy tragedy,” she said. “His coworkers were waiting for him at work and calling his phone over and over until they heard about an accident.”
She told WPTV that Dougherty had worked at the Wellington Dunkin’ on Forest Hill Boulevard since it opened more than a decade ago.
“We can’t deal with it. We just can’t figure it out. Because of it, they closed Dunkin’ Donuts yesterday,” Buscen said. “He had turned 30. He still had a long way to go in life.”
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said that Dougherty was turning left when a semi hit the side of his car where the passenger was sitting.
There is a GoFundMe account set up to help his family.
Buscen said there needs to be something done at that junction.
“I had an accident right where he did,” she said. “It’s just a very bad neighborhood. Right now, something needs to be done. Too many things have gone wrong in that area. Too many people have died.”
The truck driver who was in the accident was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is being looked into by the police.
