Safety Alert: 80,000+ Pounds of Deli Meat Recalled Due to Inspection Issue

Not even ready-to-eat deli meat is safe from recalls involving food products.

A New Jersey-based company called ConSup North America Incorporated is recalling nearly 100,000 pounds of sliced Stockmeyer prosciutto that was made in Germany because it “was not inspected properly.”

The recalled product was offered by retailers all throughout the nation, including establishments in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

The problem was identified when the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service received notification from Germany’s Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety that a German producer had transported them “without the benefit of equivalent inspection.”

Take the prosciutto off; no “adverse reactions” were noted

You should still throw away the recalled product even though there have been “no confirmed” reports of negative reactions brought on by using the product.

The USDA is worried that the recalled items might still be in the freezers of customers or merchants.

“Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” as per the notice.

Dates and lot numbers affected by the prosciutto recall

When you start looking through your freezer or refrigerator for the lots of recalled Stockmeyer Prosciutto, there are a few things to keep an eye out for: specific lot codes and best-before dates.

What you ought to search for is as follows:

  • 5.29 oz plastic containers labeled “Product of Germany” by Stockmeyer PROSCIUTTO
  • 09118-3A, 09118-3B, 09120-3A, 09120-3B, 13133-3A, 13133-3B, 13104-3A, 13104-3B, 13105-3A, 13105-3B, 13109-3A, and 13109-3B are the lot codes.
  • Ideal before dates: April 28, 2024; May 26, 2024; July 7, 2024; August 4, 2024; August 11, 2024; and October 7, 2024.

You should definitely throw out or return your plastic Stockmeyer Prosciutto container to the store of purchase if it contains any of the best before dates or lot codes mentioned above.
