Sen. Rick Scott Takes Stand Against Biden's Proposal for Palestinian Refugee Resettlement

Concerned that the Biden administration would permit tens of thousands of unscreened Palestinians to enter the country, Florida Senator Rick Scott issued the statement below earlier today.

More than a hundred members of Congress have previously expressed their desire for President Biden to authorize Deferred Enforced Departure and award Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Palestinians living in the United States.

Senator Rick Scott stated that, “I am gravely concerned about the pressure building from the radical left for President Biden to allow thousands of Palestinians to come to America.” This would carry on the unsettling pattern of Democratic administrations permitting unscreened and perhaps dangerous immigrants from countries and states that despise the United States to flood our nation. It must not be let to occur once more.

“The FBI has repeatedly warned of the serious threats America faces from terror cells that are growing here in the United States. Director Wray detailed the significance of these threats to me in a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing last year, and reiterated the danger we face during yesterday’s Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. We cannot ignore these warnings and the massive threat of terrorism that President Biden has allowed to grow within the United States. As reported in the Wall Street Journal this morning, European nations are taking action right now to stop terrorism tied to Gaza and the October 7th attacks on Israel. Given these reports and dire warnings from the FBI, I will do everything in my power as a United States Senator to block the Biden administration from bringing in refugees from Gaza, which have already been rejected from resettlement by Egypt and Jordan, and putting even more Americans at risk of terrorism on U.S. soil. Any resettlement must happen in the region, not the United States.”

More than 8 million people have entered the country illegally since President Biden took office as a result of his deliberate inability to protect the southern border. This number includes more than 1.7 million known gotaways and hundreds of persons on the FBI Terror Watch List.

The Wall Street Journal said this morning that intelligence and law enforcement in Europe had thwarted terror plots linked to people claiming to be migrants.

According to this story, three Palestinians were arrested yesterday by Italian authorities on suspicion of having ties to a terrorist group and of planning to carry out several assaults against both military and civilian targets around Europe.
