In Texas, a 17-year-old boy is facing adult charges after he reportedly killed the girl’s stepfather after he began pursuing her and she rejected him.
Cristian Gasca Martinez was taken into custody by police on Friday for the murder of Osvaldo Casas, 37, according to the Houston Police Department. Casas was allegedly shot by Gasca Martinez on the 600 block of Loper Street in southeast Houston just before 12:30 a.m. on August 10.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Casas with multiple gunshot wounds. On the spot, paramedics declared him dead.
Prior to the shooting, Casas reportedly addressed a “suspicious” individual on his street, according to the police at the time. After more research, it was discovered that Gasca Martinez had been courting Casas’ 16-year-old stepdaughter, but the girl informed him she wasn’t interested, according to a complaint.
The girl was allegedly stalked by Gasca Martinez. According to a courtroom report from local news outlet KHOU, the girl had to ban his number because he continued to call her even after she asked him to stop.
Additionally, he allegedly threatened people on social media by sharing pictures of himself with a pistol. According to the lawsuit, Gasca Martinez then shot Casas “in retaliation for being rejected” by the girl.

Judith Molina, the victim’s wife, said on a GoFundMe page that her husband passed away “while bravely protecting our family.” The fact that Molina and Casas were expecting a boy added to the tragedy of the situation. On August 20, Casas was laid to rest by his family. Molina gave birth to a child three days later.
Gasca Martinez’s bond was set by a judge at $200,000. He was arrested by police on Thursday and is currently being held at the Harris County Jail.
