TAMPA, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says that an ambulance crashed on its way to a hospital in Hillsborough County on Sunday morning.
The FHP said that at 4:30 a.m., an AMBITRANS ambulance was going north on I-75 when it got off at the wrong exit.
When the driver noticed what had happened, he tried to get back into the northbound lanes by crossing the land between the two roads where they split at the exit.
Troopers said this is when the ambulance hit a fence attenuator and flipped into the northbound lanes.
The crash hurt the driver, the nurse, and their patient, a woman from Fort Myers, only a little.
