After they allegedly battered and attacked their roommate and held him captive for several hours, authorities in Colorado have taken into custody three people and are still searching for a fourth.
Around ten in the morning on Monday, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Saint Anthony’s Medical Center in Lakewood, which is located just outside of Denver.
In the emergency department, a 45-year-old guy related his terrifying experience. He alleged his housemates had tied him up and abused him for more than 14 hours.
He admitted to authorities that he had spent a few weeks living in a house on the 4700 block of South Oak Court, according to a probable cause arrest document.
According to authorities, the man claimed he was in a basement bedroom when he heard his roommates, who were later identified as Jason Carlson, 49, Sherell Allen, 48, Jimmy Ray Smith II, 39, and Luke Anaya, 41, plotting an attack on him. His initial attempt was to climb out of a window.
When that failed, he placed objects in front of the door to barricade himself inside. However, a short while later, the men allegedly forced in the door and shot him with rock salt using airsoft-style weapons. The affidavit stated that they then started attacking him.
Police reported that Smith gave the victim enough pleasure with his foot on his throat to “cause him to lose consciousness.”
He was allegedly restrained to a chair by the suspects using electrical tape and zip ties. The roommates “took turns” hitting the victim’s knees with a baseball bat while he was restrained. Carlson then doused the victim’s face with rubbing alcohol before “lighting the liquid on fire,” according to the complaint.

Up until two more persons arrived at the house and ordered the suspects to stop attacking him, the attack went on both upstairs and in the basement. Before someone else drove him to the hospital, he was driven to another residence. The man’s account and his injuries matched.
According to the affidavit, he suffered from burns on his face, swollen and discolored knees, damaged thyroid cartilage on his neck, and singed eyebrows. There was proof that he had been restrained as well. The affidavit makes no mention of a potential reason for the supposed kidnapping.
After providing police with the assault’s location, the victim identified Carlson as the homeowner. After being detained by the SWAT team, Carlson, Allen, and Anaya are currently being held on bonds totaling between $150,000 and $300,000.
Smith is still on the loose. They are accused of assault, kidnapping, and first-degree murder attempt.
