HIALEAH, Fla. – Authorities say that a Miami man pointed a BB gun at a police officer and a SWAT team while they were training in a park in Hialeah on Tuesday.
A police report says that 19-year-old Enmanual Cuervo-Neira is being charged with five counts of aggravated attack with a gun on a police officer.
Authorities said that a Hialeah Police Department officer was training with four SWAT team members at Amelia Earhart Park at 401 E. 65th St. when they saw Cuervo-Neira and his girlfriend sitting at a picnic table near where they were training.
Police say they asked the couple if they could use the picnic table as part of their training.
As the couple obeyed the officer’s request and got up from the table, Cuervo-Neira was heard saying, “P—y a– cops,” according to police.
Authorities then saw the couple get into a black Toyota Camry that was stopped next to a marked Ford F-250 from the Hialeah Police Department.
As Cuervo-Neira got into the driver’s side of the car, police said they saw him back out of the parking spot and park parallel to the picnic table for a “significant amount of time,” which was “unusual,” according to the arrest report.
As cops watched the car, police say Cuervo-Niera lowered his window and pointed what they thought was a black handgun at them.
“In fear for their lives,” cops hid as Cuervo-Neira ran west on East 65th Street, the arrest report said.
As soon as the cops got into their marked truck, they followed the Toyota and stopped it near Palm Avenue and 65th Street, officials said.
Detectives said that after figuring out that Cuervo-Neira was the suspect, they found a black weapon under the driver’s seat.
Authorities later found out that the gun was a Sig Sauer 1911 BB gun.
Cuervo-Neira was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after that.
